*TEAS® Preparation Program
The TEAS preparation program has a study manual, an online practice assessment, and several books in the Content Mastery Review Modules, all of which are invaluable tools to use in preparing for TEAS, as well as any entrance examination to an accredited nursing school. Getting ready for TEAS is similar to studying for any general information exam. Because the test touches on several disciplines including math, science, reading, English, and language usage, reviewing basic information in these areas is the most productive choice.
TEAS preparation is designed to indentify strengths and weaknesses in the candidate's understanding of the basic material studied in core curriculum courses during nurse training. What the results of the TEAS preparation test provide is a blueprint of gaps in background knowledge so candidates can take steps to address these deficiencies before taking entrance exams and beginning a challenging training program. The goal is to ensure the best possible preparation for achieving success in the nursing field.
The first step in preparing for any test is a good night's sleep and a nutritious breakfast. Maintaining a relaxed, positive state of mind increases confidence and helps prevent anxiety. Each section of the TEAS preparation test has specific instructions so the candidate needs to take care to follow the instructions exactly. Each question should be read carefully and every answer considered thoughtfully. The candidate should not spend too much time on any one question but answer as many as possible in the allotted time.
The level of difficulty of each question in the TEAS preparation test will be different for each person. If there is time left after completing a particular section, the candidate can go back and reconsider skipped questions. Changing an answer should be a well thought out process. Studies have shown that in many cases, the first response to a question is, more often than not, correct. A logical, educated deduction is probably okay, but random guessing is not recommended.
